Summary:
The testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and for reporting test results.
Makes judgments on test results based on knowledge of principles and expected outcome.
Requirements:
A Baccalaureate degree is required from an accredited college or university.
The Baccalaureate degree can be in medical technology OR one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences OR may have been obtained from 3 years of academic study in an accredited college or university earning a minimum of 90 semester hours or equivalent meeting specific requirements for entrance into an accredited school of medical technology.
In all instances successful completion of at least 12 months training in a CAHEA/NCCLS accredited Medical Technology program OR 12 months pertinent full-time laboratory experience/training in a targeted testing specialty is required.
Certification as MT (ASCP) or CLS (NCA) or AMT is required.
Licensed and / or eligible State in which the laboratory is located, if such licensing is required On the job clinical training or internship for one year while completing the requirements for the Registry Examination is required.
One to two additional years experience in a clinical laboratory setting is preferred.
